Lauren Dugan Bio

Lauren Dugan is a reporter for WTXF FOX29 Philadelphia (FOX O&O) on the 5, 6, 10, & 11PM newscasts. She has been nominated for two local news Emmys. She graduated with her Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in Communication/ Journalism from Villanova University.

For three years, Dugan reported at WJZY FOX46 Charlotte (FOX O&O). She broke the story about a major shortage in the Charlotte Police Dept. retirement fund. After her stories aired, employees filed a lawsuit and the fund was frozen. She was nominated for an Emmy for her "Bomb Squad Robot" feature and for her "Hack Attack" series, investigating when the Charlotte Mecklenburg county government was hacked and held for ransom by two men overseas. She was also apart of the team that won an Emmy for the 2016 Charlotte Riots. She has covered big stories like Billy Graham's funeral, President Trump rallies, the 2017 total solar eclipse, the deadly Butler High School shooting, the deadly UNCC college shooting, three hurricanes, tornadoes, and the Dale Earnhardt Jr. plane crash in Tennessee. At FOX46 Charlotte, Dugan wrote, shot, and edited her own packages. She also shot her own live shots and wrote web scripts.

Before moving to North Carolina, Dugan was a Jr. Reporter for FOX29 for two years. She worked on the breaking news coverage of the #PopeinPhilly announcement from the Vatican. Her report on the endangered Vets 4 Warriors program was used in a plea for funding to the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington D.C. that was granted by Governor Chris Christie. Dugan has also landed exclusive interviews with Vatican Officials, Congressmen, the 1999 Nobel Prize Laureate, Mark Sanchez, Monique Davis, Jay Wright, Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro, and Jim Gaffigan.  

As a Vatican Correspondent, she covered preparations for the papal visit to the U.S. and the 2015 Philadelphia World Meeting of Families. She also reported on the controversial discussions on same sex marriage and communion for divorced Catholics in the 2014 Extraordinary Synod of Bishops.  For her local and international coverage from the Vatican, she was awarded a scholarship by the Broadcasting Pioneers of Philadelphia.

She has previously worked at TIME.com and ESPN U Campus Connections where she covered the NCAA 2016 Final Four and National Championship. Her ESPN U features include the Villanova Bench Mob and student athletes at PA Special Olympics. At Time.com she covered the historic landing of Solar Impulse II, the 30th anniversary of Chernoybl, and edited video of President Obama's speeches of mass shootings.

Dugan hails from Flemington, New Jersey. She graduated from Villanova University, with a Master's and Bachlor's Degree in Communication, specialization in Journalism, and minor in Writing and Rhetoric.  She was the General Manager/ President of Villanova Television for 3 years.
